"Kilmenan", a parish, in the barony of Fassadining, county of Kilkenny, and province of Leinster, 2 3/4 miles (S. by W.) from Ballynakill, near the river Nore; containing 316 inhabitants, and 1014 statute acres. It is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Ossory, forming part of the union of Attanagh. In the R. C. divisions it is part of the union or district of Ballyragget.
