The Ancient Parish of BURYTHORPE
[Transcribed information mainly from the early 1820s]
"BURYTHORPE, a parish in the wapentake of Buckrose; 5 miles S. of Malton. Here is a Church of the Establishment (see Churches for photograph), of which the Rev. Robert Howard, rector, is the incumbent; and the King is patron; a Methodist chapel with a small Sunday school. In the year 1768, died Francis Consitt, of this place, who had attained the patriarchal age of 150 years. Pop. including Thornthorpe, 216.""THORNTHORPE, in the parish of Burythorpe, and wapentake of Buckrose; 1½ miles N. of Burythorpe, 2½ miles S. of Malton. Pop. included with Burythorp."
