The Ancient Parish of BURSTWICK

"BURSTWICK, a parish in the wapentake and liberty of Holderness, 3 miles SE of Hedon. The church is an ancient structure (see Churches for photograph), dedicated to All Saints, of which the Rev. Wm. Clarke, M. A. is vicar, and the executors of the Earl of Cardigan the patrons. There is in the chancel an elegant painting, representing the Sacrament of the Lord's supper. Population, with Skeckling, 436.""NUTHILL, a farm house in the township and parish of Burstwick; 1½ miles NNW. of Burstwick, 3 miles from Hedon. 9 from Hull."

There is no village of the name of Skeckling, it is merely the name of a parish."
