• "This is also called Llanvairy Clwyn, evidently a corruption of the former. The proper name is Llanvair o'r Llwyn, i.e "St Mary's in the grove". It is in the lordship of Gwynionydd Issa."
• "The three last incumbents of the parish church were ; the Rev. John Williams ; the Rev. John Jones ; and the Rev. Thomas Price."
