"Killarney", a parish, in the barony of Gowran, county of Kilkenny, and province of Leinster, 5 miles (S. W.) from Gowran; containing 581 inhabitants, and 3830 statute acres. It is a rectory, in the diocese of Ossory, entirely appropriate to the economy estate of the cathedral of St. Canice, Kilkenny. In the R. C. divisions it forms part of the union or district of Thomastown, and contains a chapel and a school. Here are the ruins of a castle, said to have been formerly occupied by the Grace family.
