The Ancient Parish of ALLERSTON

"ALLERSTON, a parish in the wapentake and liberty of Pickering Lythe; 5 miles E. of Pickering. There is here an ancient church, dedicated to St. Mary. The living is a perpetual curacy, of which the Rev. Thomas Simpson, vicar of Ebberston is the incumbent, Patron the Dean of York. Population, 401.""BLAKEY TOPPING, a hill, in the parish of Allerston, wapentake and liberty of Pickering Lythe; 7 miles N. of Allerston, 9 miles NE. of Pickering."
