1689 - Sir John Fenwick sold his estate to Sir William Blackett of Wallington, Northumberland. who was the third son of Sir William Blackett of Newcastle, Merchant. He also served as a local MP. 

1705 - On the death of his father, William Blackett succeeded to the estate. 

1728 Walter Calverley son of Walter Calverley of Elshot Yorkshire, and nephew of William Blackett succeeded to the estate with the proviso that he married William's illegitimate daughter Elizabeth Ord and adopt the surname Blackett, there were however no surviving children of the marriage

1777 - the estate passed to the Wentworth family of Bretton Hall Yorkshire

1792 on the death of Sir Thomas Wentworth the estate was left to the illegitimate daughter of Sir Thomas, Diana,  wife of Colonel Richard Beaumont

1832 - The estate passed to Sir Thomas Wentworth Blackett, son of Diana.

1848 The estate passed to Wentworth Blackett Beaumont and it continues with that family

1906 Created First Baron Allendale

1911 Created Viscount Allendale (Wentworth Canning Blackett Beaumont 1860-1923)

 Viscount Allendale whose current address is listed as Bywell, Northumberland Wentworth Peter Ismay Beaumont succeeded his father in 2002 as the 4th Viscount Allendale

• Allendale Parish was part of Hexham Poor Law Union. The Union Workhouse was located at Peth Head, Hexham. Some useful records are held at Northumberland Record Office

The St Cuthbert's Church Lychgate War Memorial in Allendale was unveiled on 1 August 1920 by Viscountess Allendale. It includes the names of the 22 local men who lost their lives in WW1 and the two who died in WW2.
