This Church was founded in 1801 and celebrated its 200th anniversary on October 27/28th 2001. The first building on Abbey St was c1807. It was replaced by a large church in 1849 on the same site in Abbey St just beyond Birtwistle St. This was demolished c1985. A new smaller modern building was erected in Hargreaves St on the site of the old Sunday School and was opened in September 1985 and remains in use.
