"THURSTASTON, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of WIRRALL, county palatine of CHESTER, 5 miles (N. W. by N.) from Great Neston, containing 127 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, rated in the king's books at £6. 13. 6., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £300 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Chester. The church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, is a curious small structure, partly in the Norman style of architecture. The river Dee passes by this place to Chester." - Since 1974 it has been an unparished area in the county of Merseyside.
- It includes the hamlet of Dawpool.

"THURSTASTON, a parish and township in the lower division of Wirrall hundred, county Chester, 5 miles N.W. of Great Neston, and 7 S.W. of Birkenhead. The village is situated on the river Dee. The parish includes the hamlets of Grasby and Irby. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Chester, value £242, in the patronage of the dean and chapter. The church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, has been recently rebuilt. The parochial charities produce about £31 per annum. A Sunday-school is held at the church. Colonel Clegg is lord of the manor."
