- Greasby was a township in the ancient parishes of West Kirby and Thurstaston, Wirral hundred (SJ 2587), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- Since 1974 it has been an unparished area in the county of Merseyside.
- The population was 123 in 1801, 177 in 1851, 290 in 1901, and 4367 in 1951.
