Church History information for Leece United Methodist Free Church and places above it in the hierarchy

Leece United Methodist Free Church

It was founded in 1881 and closed in 1912.

The picture on the right is Leece Tarn from a postcard dated 1904. The former Methodist church, taken down in the late 1920s, is the building on the extreme right. The enclosure in the centre used to form allotment gardens and a drying ground for the neighbouring cottages. The tarn itself has since been reduced in size.

In 1907 the United Methodist Free Church merged with the Methodist New Connexion and the Bible Christians to form the United Methodist Church.

In 1932 the United Methodists joined with the Wesleyan Methodists and the Primitive Methodists to form the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
