(Whilst Town Clerk here at Llanrwst, I researched Richard James, who, in today's money gave around £1 million to the town and neighbouring communities. Just to offer a few examples, It was he that purchased Llyn Crafnant and gave it in perpetuity to the town and people of Llanrwst to ensure their water supply; with the failure of the Chester and Holyhead railway company ( twice) he succeeded in securing the Act of Parliament which brought the railway to Llanrwst - and similarly the road ( initially a Turnpike) from Llanrwst to Abergele ( the A548) etc. I have assigned the rights to the Llanrwst Town Council from whom copies may be purchased for £3.50 plus postage.) 2022
