Church History information for Clapham and places above it in the hierarchy

Clapham

  • The Parish Church of the Epiphany, Austwick: [Barrie Sharples 2006]
    • This church was originally built as a lecture room in 1839, becoming a Chapel of ease in 1841, whilst still part of Clapham Parish.
Built by the Ingleby Family of Clapham, it was extended in 1883 and since 1879 has been the Parish church of Austwick.
The present building is not the original church, there was an much earlier church, used up to the mid 17th Cent., however where it was situated and exactly when it closed remains a mystery.
