Southwell

  • The Anglican parish register dates from 1559 and is in good condition.

  • The Wesleyan Methodists built a chapel built here in 1849 near the Market Place.

  • The Baptists bought the old workhouse here in 1849 and converted it to a chapel for their services. Before 1839 the Baptists had been meeting in a barn and a nearby lot used for a burial ground.
