  • Amersham is fortunate that one of its sons, George Ward, was a prolific and able photographer of his native town and its people, and that many of his images survive. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many of Ward's photographs were printed as postcards, some of which have been reproduced in modern book format with commentaries (see bibliography).
