* After the 1891 census, Culross and Tulliallan parishes were added to Fife, while the Fife parts of Arngask and Abernethy were transferred to Perthshire. There were also other boundary changes at various times, which are detailed on the parish pages. Pre-1901 figures for Culross and Tulliallan are included for comparison.
