Kingswood

  • "KINGSWOOD, a hamlet in the chapelry of Oldland, parish of Bitton, county Gloucester, 4 miles E. of Bristol. It is situated near the river Avon, and the Bristol and Gloucester railway, on the borders of Kingswood Forest. The village, which is considerable, is chiefly inhabited by colliers and hat-makers. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £101, in the patronage of the Prebend of Bitton. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity."
