The Pinfold was for wandering livestock and animals. They would be held here until the farmer paid the small fine and returned them to their pastures, corrals or domicile. Alan MURRAY-RUST has a photograph of the local Pinfold on Geo-graph, taken in March, 2018.
A large part of the parish was given over to pasturage prior to the early 20th century.
Anne MOZLEY, author, born on 17 September 1809 in Gainsborough, LIN, and died in 1891, lived for much of her life in this parish.
The BBC tells us that "Lynn SIDDONS' body was discovered in thick undergrowth by a canal at Barrow on Trent in Derbyshire in 1978." Lynn was 16 years old at the time of her death. A memorial to Lynn SIDDONS stands at the spot where her body was found. Her killer was convicted and sentenced to Life imprisonment.
