"TREHERBERT is a township forming part of the Rhondda Urban District and an ecclesiastical parish, formed in 1893 fron Rhondda; it is in the Miskin hundred, Pontypridd union and county court district, rural deanery of Rhondda and archdeaconry and diocese of Llandaff. The town lies amongst mountainous and picturesque scenery at the foot of Penpych, which rises 1,700 feet above the level of the sea; it is 11 miles north-west from Pontypridd and is the terminus of the Rhondda branch of the Great Western railway, and also of the Rhondda and Swansea Bay branch of that railway.

All Saints, also a chapel of ease to St. Alban's, erected in 1894, at a cost of £2380, is a building of stone, ... and will seat 350 persons. The Public Hall, erected in 1872, at a cost of £2.500, and now the Treherbert Opera House, will seat 800 persons. The population of the ecclesiastical parish in 1901 was 8,826, and in 1911, 13,393."
