"GWERN-HOWELL (GWERNI-HYWEL), an extra-parochial district, in the hundred of ISALED, county of DENBIGH, NORTH WALES, 2 miles (w. S. W.) from Pentre -Voelas, containing 73 inhabitants. This place is said by some to belong to the parish of Corwen, though detached, and thirteen miles distant from the church of that parish. It was assessed with the parish of Cerrig y Druidion for the property tax, and supported its poor separately until within a late period."
