• This was  one of six chapels of ease to Llandysul Parish Church, the six being;  Llanffraed at Dyffryn Llynod, Tregroes; St. Sulfed, Pontshaen; St. Winifred near Castell Gwynionydd; Llanfair, near Llanfair Manor; Capel Dewi, near Gwarcoed-isaf; and Capel Borthyn, near Bryn Martin Farm.

The Faerdref; According to legend there was once a priory in the Faerdref, but a search through Douglas ' "Monasticon Anglicanum" at the Royal Institution in Swansea failed to reveal any reference to a priory here. There are three authorities to prove that had been in the Faerdref (1) Rees " Essays on the Welsh Saints" where it is noted that a chapel had been in the Faerdref. (2) in the vestry records of the parish from 1758 to 1789 we find that in 1758  was divided to the mother church and six others. The Faerdref was one of them. (3) According to a parish legend, the church was on Faerdref Fach land, near Castell Coedfoel or Gwynionydd, in a field called "Cae'r Garreg"
