- This extract from The History of the Parish of Llandyssul by Rev. W J Davies 1896, p 17/18, is from a chapter styled "Chapels under the Mother Church" ;
Llanfair; This chapel stood on the meadow below Llanfair Mansion. It was dedicated to the Virgin Mary, but no trace of it is left now. When ploughing the meadow, Thomas Jones, father of Henry Jones, blacksmith of Llandyssul, came across the key to the chapel door which is now in the possession of the trustees of the Llanfair estate. At one time there was a carved stone in the stile leading to the meadow between the mansion and Llandyssul. A thorough search has failed to produce this stone. It is sometimes said that the stile above the mansion beyond Llandyssul, led to the chapel. This is incorrect as as it is of recent construction. In the parish records, there are three references to the chapel. They are three baptisms - the first in 1722, the second in 1724 and the third in 1728. Here are the details;
(1) 1722, Lettuce, daughter od Henry David, Chapel Llanfair
(2) 1724, ----------- Capel, Llanfair
(3) 1728, Dec 22. David, son of Harry David, Chaple Llanfair
