In 1868, the parish of Kilgarvan contained the following places:"KILGARVAN, a parish in the barony of West Shelmaliere, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles N.W. of Taghmon, its post town. It is 3 miles long by 2 broad. The highest ground is at Camorous Hill, which rises to the height of 598 feet. The parish is traversed by the road from New Ross to Wexford. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ferns, value with Horetown, £362, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Taghmon and Coolstuff. There is a hedge-school.
