The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Ballymitty contained the following places:"BALLYMITTY, a parish in the barony of Shelmaliere, in the county of Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles to the S. of Taghmon. It is situated on a small stream which falls into Bannow Bay. The land is mostly cultivated, and there are quarries of good building-stone. The living is a rectory united with that of Taghmon, in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. The principal mansion is Coolcliffe, the seat of Sir W. Cox, Bart. There are some remains of a castle.
