In 1868, the parish of Rathkennan contained the following places:"RATHKENNAN, a parish in the barony of Kilnamanagh, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 4½ miles S.W. of Thurles, its post town. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Cashel, value with Holy Cross, £173, in the patronage of the bishop.
