The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Mitchelstown contained the following places:"MITCHELSTOWN, a parish in the barony of Lower Slane, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S.E. of Nobber, its post town. It is 2½ miles long by three-quarters of a mile in breadth. The soil is good. The road from Kells to Ardee crosses the interior. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, value with Syddan, £225, in the patronage of the crown and bishop alternately."
