In 1868, the parish of Doondonnell contained the following places:"DOONDONNELL, a parish in the barony of Lower Connello, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles W. of Rathkeale, its post town. It is situated on the left bank of the river Deel. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Limerick, value with Rathkeale, £1,027, in the patronage of the bishop. There are some slight vestiges of the old church remaining. Riddlestown is the principal seat.
