The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Cloncagh contained the following places:"CLONCAGH, a parish in the barony of Upper Connello, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles to the S.W. of Ballingarry. Clarina is its post town. The soil is rich, consisting of pasture and arable land. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Limerick, Ardfert, and Aghadoe, value with Clonelty, £134, in the patronage of the Vicars Choral of Limerick. An abbey is alleged to have been founded here by St. Maidoc, of Ferns, where now stands the parish church in ruins."
