The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Kilcoan contained the following places:"KILCOAN, a parish in the barony of Ida, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles E. of Mullinavat. Listerlin is its post town. The parish is 2½ miles in length by 1 mile broad. The living is a suspended rectory in the diocese of Ossory, and patronage of the bishop. This parish is part of the Roman Catholic district of Sliernagh."
