In 1868, the parish of Dunnamaggan contained the following places:"DUNNAMAGGAN, a parish in the baronies of Kells and Knocktopher, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.W. of Knocktopher, its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, value with Knocktopher, £510, in the patronage of the bishop. Here is a Roman Catholic chapel united to that of Kilmaganny, also a Sunday and two day schools.
