The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Dunbell contained the following places:"DUNBELL, a parish in the barony of Gowran, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of Gowran. Bennett's Bridge is its post town. It lies along the eastern shore of the river Nore. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, value with Burnchurch, £709, in the patronage of the crown. In the Roman Catholic arrangement the parish is united to Gowran."
