In 1868, the parish of Coolcashin contained the following places:"COOLCASHIN, a parish in the barony of Galmoy, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles to the N.E. of Johnstown. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ossory, value with Aghour, £704,: in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Lisdowney and Clontubrid. Freshford is its post town."
