The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Ballycallan contained the following places:"BALLYCALLAN, a parish in the barony of Crannagh, and county of Kilkenny, in the province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles to the W. of Kilkenny. The living is a rectory united with that of Callan, in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. A police force is stationed here."
