The ancient parish church stood in the burial ground. Nothing remains and its site was used for a Church of Ireland church, built in 1815. This was closed in 1870 and only the ruined tower now stands. In the Church of Ireland Lisselton was united with Aghavallen by the seventeenth century.
Lisselton was included in Catholic parish of Ballybunnion. A church was built in around 1830 to the east of the village of Lisselton in Ballydonoghue. This church is in the civil parish of Galey and in 1930 was dedicated to St. Therese of Liseaux. In 1960 the area was formed into a new Parish of Ballydonoghue.
