"KILTALLAGH, a parish in the barony of Trughanacmy, county Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles N. of Miltown, its post town. The parish is 2 miles long and 1½ broad, and contains the town of Castlemaine. The surface lies along the bank of the river Maine. It is mountainous and boggy, including part of the Slieve Nish mountain. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value with three others, £410, in the patronage of the crown. The church was erected by aid of a loan from the late Board of First Fruits. There is a Roman Catholic chapel and four or five day schools. Laharun is one of the principal residences."
