"LOUGHAN, (or Castlekeeran), a parish in the baronies of Castlerahan and Upper Kells, county Cavan and county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles S.W. of Moynalty. It is situated along the E. side of the river Blackwater. The road from Dublin to Enniskillen passes through the parish. The living is wholly impropriate in the diocese of Meath. There is a Roman Catholic chapel, also two day-schools. Maprath House and two or three other residences are seated within the limits.
