A parish in the wapentake of Birdforth, a part in the Liberty of St. Peter; 4 miles from Thirsk, 7 from Boroughbridge and Ripon, 12 from Northallerton, 24 from York. Population 659. The Church is a vicarage, dedicated to St. Colomb, in the deanery of Bulmer.
