The place:

A parish in the wapentake of Bulmer, Liberty of St. Peter; 4 miles from Easingwold, 10 from York, 12 from Malton. Population 698. The Church, a prebendal peculiar, is a vicarage, dedicated to St. Nicholas, in the deanery of Bulmer.
