SOUTH CAVE:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1829.

"SOUTH CAVE, two miles from North Cave in the parish of its name, it is pleasantly situated within half a mile of the Wolds. The eminences in this neighbourhood present charming views of the Humber, and others carry the sight into Lincolnshire, over a tract of level country Here is one church, and three chapels belonging to the Methodists, The living of the church is a vicarage, in the patronage of Henry Gee Barnard, Esq. of Cave castle, who is lord of the manor, and holds a manorial court in October, when a constable Is appointed. A market is held on Mondays. The population of the parish, in 1821, was 1,190, and the township 885 of that number."
