Sacred to the memory of The Venerable FRANCIS WRANGHAM M.A.F.R.S. soemtime Archdeacon of the East Riding of this County, Canon of York and Chester and for forty six uears Vicar of this parish After sustaining patiently a long period of distressing bodily infirmity, he yielded up his chastened spirit to his Redeemer December xxvii, A.D. mdcccxlii aged lxxii years. His body lies in Chester Cathedral but his widow and surviving children have raised this monument where the vigour and maturity of his life were spent, hoping that it may be a source of pleasing and instructive recollection to many of his old parishioners, and of Christian meditation to all. "The Memory of the Just is Blessed."
