"KINGSTON SEYMOUR, a parish in the hundred of Chewton, county Somerset, 8 miles N.W. of Axbridge, 2½ W. of Yatton, and 15 from Bristol, its post town. The village, which is small, is situated on the river Yeo, near the Bristol Channel. The inhabitants are chiefly engaged in agriculture. The land is in pasture, and has been frequently inundated by the sea. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £305. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is an ancient structure with a tower crowned by a small spire, and containing five bells. Over the altar is a painting of the Transfiguration, by Smirke.
