"EARNSHILL, a parish in the hundred of Abdick, county Somerset, 4 miles S.W. of Langport, its post town and nearest railway station on the Bristol and Exeter line. It is situated on the river Isle, at a short distance from the Parret navigation. The parish is of small extent, and there is no village. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £30, in the patronage of R. T. Combs, Esq., who is lord of the manor and owner of the whole of the soil. There is no church."
