"STANSFIELD, a parish in the hundred of Risbridge, county Suffolk, 5½ miles E. of Clare, its post town. The village, which is small, is wholly agricultural. The parish includes the hamlet of Assington Green. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Ely., value £508, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church, dedicated to All Saints, has a tower and five bells. The parochial charities produce about £11 per annum. The Independents have a chapel, with day and Sunday schools adjoining."
