"COOKLEY, a parish in the hundred of Blything, in the county of Suffolk, 3 miles W. of Halesworth station. The living is a rectory* annexed to the rectory* of Huntingfield, in the diocese of Norwich, in the patronage of Lord Huntingfield. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is a stone building in the perpendicular style of architecture, consisting of chancel, nave, and tower. It contains a brass of 1587 to the Brown family. The charities amount to £18 per annum. Lord Huntingfield is lord of the manor."
