"BRAISEWORTH, a parish in the hundred of Hartismere, in the county of Suffolk, 2 miles to the S. of Eye, its post town. The Great Eastern railway passes near it, and has a station at Mellis, which is 4 miles distant to the south-east. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich, value £149, in the patronage of Sir E. Kerrison, Bart., M.P., who is lord of the manor. The church of St. Mary is an old building, now disused, a handsome new church having been recently erected in another part of the parish."
