"STOWE, a parish in the hundred of Purslow, county Salop, 1½ mile N.E. of Knighton, its post town, and 15 miles from Ludlow. The village is situated on the river Teme, near Stowe Hill. The parish comprises the townships of Weston and Lurkenhope. The soil is of a gravelly nature, with a subsoil of loamy clay. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford, value £188.
