"COUND, a parish in the hundred of CONDOVER, county of SALOP, 6 miles (N.W.) from Much Wenlock, containing, with the chapelry of Cressage, 799 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £33, and in the patronage of John C. Pelham, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The river Severn runs through the parish."
