"REYMERSTONE, a small neat village of detached houses, on East Dereham road, 3 miles N. of Hingham, has in its parish 274 souls, and 1624 acres of land. About half the soil belongs to T.T. Gurdon, Esq., the lord of the manor, called Colvelly Hall, and the rest belongs to the Mann, Staines, Lock, Clark, and a few other families. Nearly 1200 acres are in pasturage. The Church (St. Peter) is a discharged rectory, valued in the King's Book at £11. 3s. 6d., but now having 18A. 29P. of glebe, and a yearly rent of £171. 8s., awarded in 1839, in lieu of tithes. T.T. Gurdon, Esq., is patron, and the Rev. Philip Gurdon, incumbent. The former erected a neat National School here, in 1844."
