"TWEEDMOUTH, a parochial chapelry, situated at the northern extremity of Islandshire, comprises the townships of Ord, Spittal, and Tweedmouth, whose united area is 5,140 acres. Population in 1801, 3,458; in 1811, 3,917; in 1821, 4,673; in 1831, 4,971; in 1841, 5,202; and in 1851, 5,714 souls."

- The article, Tennant's Pipe Factory, Tweedmouth by J.E. Roberts, published in History of the Berwickshire Naturalists' Club vol. 44, part 2 (1988), pp. 87-102, looks at this factory on Main Street, Tweedmouth, near Low Gate. It discusses the Tennant's firm, which operated between 1844 and 1918, and also considers the process of manufacture and pipes produced by the factory.
