Church History

Prior to 1632, the medieval parish church stood on what is now the corner of Old Church Lane and Wolverton Road. It was probably dedicated to St Mary. A new brick church, now a ruin, was opened on the current site in 1632, and replaced by the current building in 1849. A detailed history of the church can be found in the Great Stanmore section of the Victoria County History of Middlesex.
